Etape surpise: la Birmanie (Myanmar)/ Surprise Step: Burma (Myanmar)i
Bonjour,
Goa
Hi, Goa left Ko Samui following a beautiful shore (a kind of local Ha Long Bay) to head Surat Thani. It's a city with no major interest but so nice inhabitants, despite communication is not easy as most of them do not speak English. Then he crossed the Kra Isthmus that separates the Pacific Ocean from the Indian Ocean and the Andaman Sea. The Rainforets landscape is so beautiful and gives an idea how looked the Bangkok surroundings before the massive urbanisation. We He came back from Cambodia, after some tensions in November, then land border-crossing visas were reduced to 15 days. So Goa took a king of mini boat on the small sea between Ranong in Thailand and Kawthong in Burma. He obtained a local Bumese visa (limited to the city) to come back then to Thailand and extend the free visa for 15 additional days. It seems to be stupid but the borders are still here in Asia... Burma is beautiful for the few that Goa saw, but its population has no freedom due to an opressive regime... The baot ride was really nice, Goa even saw some dolphins and the few Burmeese he met were really king. Goa plans to come back properly to visit the country in the future. Back to Ranong in Thailand, natural hot water springs were really cool for a rest. As you can see sometimes a travel can go further than your expectations! Goa
